Bringing inventive and creative flavors to Syracuse
In 1982, siblings John and Eileen Gannon jumped at the chance to open Gannon’s Isle Ice Cream in the small ice cream stand that stood in the parking lot of their father’s grocery store. By 1996, they had developed a following and expanded into the building where the grocery store operated. In 2000, a second location was opened at 4800 McDonald Road. To maintain the family-run operation, John and Eileen brought in their youngest brother Dan to oversee the second location. Each location is whimsically decorated by local artist JP Crangle.
Today, they have developed a strong mobile following after starting catering services. The Gannon’s love celebrating their customer's milestones at birthday parties, baby showers, office celebrations, graduations, and weddings. Their product has also struck a chord with the business community. Many of the local restaurants have jumped at the chance to carry Gannon’s products.
They have received dozens of Syracuse New Times Best of awards, Best of CNY recognition from the Post Standard, and Family Times Besties Readers Pick awards for the best ice cream shop. Despite the numerous awards and recognition, Gannon’s favorite reviews have always been the repeat customers who continue to come back for generations.
